Adrenal Stress & Energy

Adrenal Fatigue or Adrenal Stress may be the cause of many of the health problems you are experiencing.

  • Is it difficult to wake up in the morning and do you need coffee to get going?
  • Do you have a late afternoon slump?
  • Are you wired at night when you should be sleeping?
  • Do you suffer from brain fog and irritability?
  • Do you gain weight despite trying to eat well and working out?

Physical or emotional stress causes the body to release cortisol which is also known as the “stress” hormone. These cortisol levels fluctuate throughout the day. Ideally, they should be high in the morning to give you energy and begin to fall at night so you can get to sleep and stay asleep. But many people cortisol levels are not balanced, especially when experiencing physical or emotional stress. Long term stress on the adrenal gland can eventually lead to other medical issues including blood sugar, thyroid, blood pressure and gut issues.

Collect your saliva sample throughout the day to find out if these hormone irregularities are contributing to your issues.

Cortisol
In addition to being called “the stress hormone”, cortisol helps in proper glucose metabolism, and converting sugars into energy.

High cortisol levels have been associated with hyperglycemia ( high blood sugars), weight gain, compromised immune function and high blood pressure.
Cortisol imbalance is known to result in conditions like irritability, fatigue, depression, foggy thinking, weight gain and bone loss.
Low Cortisol levels can cause chronic fatigue, low energy, low immunity, food and sugar cravings, poor exercise tolerance or recovery.

By measuring cortisol levels in saliva throughout the day,  we are able to monitor these cortisol levels and see how well the body is coping with stress. In addition,

DHEA
DHEA levels help provide information on how long and to what level the stress response has been activated.

DHEA is produced by the adrenal glands and is a precursor to both testosterone and estrogens. DHEA is also a neurohormone as small quantities are produced in the brain. It has a broad spectrum of benefits including improved energy, mood, memory, increased testosterone levels, enhanced libido and immune function.

In which states can I be tested?

Our testing is currently available in 46 U.S. states. We currently do not offer tests to residents located in the following states: New York, New Jersey, Maryland and Rhode Island. Each state has different medical regulations and for this reason, we cannot offer services to these 4 states.

Can I use my health insurance or HSA/FSA?

We offer convenient home testing that is typically priced lower than expenses often associated with using insurance, co-pays or deductibles. For this reason, we do not need to work with health insurance.

Most HSA/FSA allow for at home health tests. We do recommend you check with your plan first and submit your receipts if allowed.
