Chlamydia is the most common bacterial sexually transmitted disease in the United States. It is estimated that around 3 million Americans are infected each year. Since many people do not experience symptoms, they can often go undiagnosed. Treatment, however, is available and important because this can prevent long term complications and spread of infection.

With more than 3 million US cases per year, Gonorrhea is a bacterial infection caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Common symptoms include genital pain, pain in the lower abdomen, painful urination, discharge or sores. In some cases, gonorrhea has no symptoms. This infection can usually be treated and cured. Untreated gonorrhea can cause infertility, and other permanent health problems.

Trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted infection caused by a parasite. With more than 3 million US cases per year this infection is treatable. Symptoms in women include foul smelling vaginal discharge, genital itching, and painful urination. In men, most will have no symptoms.

Hepatitis C
Hepatitis C is and infection in the liver caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV) and is most commonly spread through blood exposure. Although many people have no symptoms, those who do may report fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, and yellowing of the skin or eyes.

Herpes Simplex type 2
HSV-2 infection is very common with over 3 million US cases per year. Symptoms may include genital pain and sores and after initial infection the virus can be dormant but cannot be cured. Medication can be used to manage outbreaks.

HIV is a virus spread through contact with infected blood, semen, rectal fluids or vaginal fluids. Although many people have no symptoms, some may experience flu-like symptoms including sore throat or fever a few weeks after HIV infection. HIV infection leads to the progressive deterioration of the immune system and can eventually cause AIDS

Syphilis is a treatable bacterial infection typically spread by sexually contact. Initial symptoms involve painless sores on the genitals, rectum or mouth. Second stage is typically characterized by a rash. Usually the symptoms then go away and the final stage can occur many years later and can cause damage to the brain, eyes, nerves or heart. Testing is important because it is possible to have minimal to no symptoms and still transmit it to your partner.

Mycoplasma genitalium
Mycoplasma genitalium is a sexually transmitted bacteria that lives on the cells of the urinary and genital tracts. Like other STIs, there can be no symptoms. Others may experience, discharge, burning with urination, abnormal vaginal bleeding or pelvic inflammatory disease. If left untreated, long term health issues can occur including pregnancy and fertility problems.

Ureaplasma is a bacterial infection typically transmitted through sexual contact. Most people have no symptoms but may experience pain or burning with urination, and discharge. Infection with Ureaplasma may increase risk for pregnancy issues, kidney stones, or respiratory disease in newborns. This infection can usually be easily treated with antibiotics.

Human Papillomavirus is the most common sexually transmitted infection and is typically spread to partners without knowing it due to lack of symptoms. HPV can cause genital warts but can also lead to cervical cancer. There are many strains of HPV and some can be short lived in younger individuals. Vaccination is available for particular strains of HPV. Both men and women can be infected with HPV and can spread infection.

In which states can I be tested?

Can I use my health insurance or HSA/FSA?
We offer convenient home testing that is typically priced lower than expenses often associated with using insurance, co-pays or deductibles. For this reason, we do not need to work with health insurance.

Most HSA/FSA allow for at home health tests. We do recommend you check with your plan first and submit your receipts if allowed.
